    THE COTTAGE INN

The Cottage is now run by Emma (who has worked here for 20 years) as typical traditional family run pub in Kenilworth, offering a menu of hearty pub food freshly cooked on site (you’ll usually Emma in the kitchen slaving away). We've got a great selection of drinks and a friendly atmosphere for all the family. The Cottage is perfectly set up to be enjoyed by everyone. We've a quiet lounge where food is served lunchtimes and evenings and breakfast and weekends, and when the season changes you can enjoy the summer sun in our fantastic garden.

We're very family friendly, and happy to make you as comfortable as we can.

    OUR HISTORY

The site of this public house was until 1805, agricultural land having been enclosed from Odibourne Common in 1756. It was then sold by John Dunn for £21.16d to Charles Chaplin of Kenilworth a mason, who built a ‘dwelling house’ on it.

In 1854 the heirs of Charles Chaplain sold the property to William Green of Kenilworth, a miller, for £180. By 1862 he was selling beer from the premises, but in 1863, sold the property to Thomas Johnson of Kenilworth, carpenter, for £180 although he continued to live there and sell beer. In 1883 the property now referred to as the ‘Cottage Inn’ was sold to William Green for £475. Following his death the ‘Cottage Inn’ was sold to Phillips and Marriott Ltd (in 1900) who owned the property in 1948, when they went into voluntary liquidation and passed it on to Bass Ratliff and Gretton Ltd. After various name changes, the successor company. Bass Holdings Ltd finally sold the property in 1981 to Dennis Ernest Bee Deeming.
